VENUE :Senior Citizens Club Rms, 7 Civic Square, Croydon 3136. Enter Civic Square from Mt Dandenong Rd adjacent to Arndale Shopping Centre. Near the Library and War Memorial, access to Senior Citizens Rooms is between the Child Care Centre and Kindergarten entry. Parking available in Civic Square or the shopping centre carpark

28th July- Speaker: John Kelly, Victorian Conservation Advocate for the Invasive Species Council

Topic:  

Feral deer are trashing our forests, polluting our waterways, destroying farms and becoming an increasing menace on our roads.
Despite this, Victoria is the only mainland state in Australia that protects feral deer under the Wildlife Act. As a result of these protection we now have up to one million animals in Victoria

John will speak about the extent of the problem, what the current management strategies are, what needs to be done to slow the spread and reduce the impact of these feral animals and what we, as bushwalkers and concerned citizens can do..
